Oooh, now I don't know. Darn... I figured an AM2 board might be a little more future-proof, but there's really no such thing these days. That's not to say I couldn't use it though. It takes DDR2 I presume ?
How's $80 sound ? (no idea myself)

Not true though - Macs are great for people who know a lot about PCs or Unix boxen and are tired of having to fight with what is essentially a tool to get things done. Macs just work - no farting around with them. AND as a bonus they're based on BSD :)

AM2 would future proof you.... this board takes DDR. I'd probably let it go for $100 incl shipping to you. If you wanted to pick up, I'd let it go for $80... mainly for your trouble. I could probably get the same amount for just the processor, but seeing it's mates rates type thing on POTN then $80-$100 would be fine regardless for mobo and chip.

On a side note... I made one of these this morning.... taken with the trusty camera phone :o

You mean use the laptop screen as the monitor for the tower ? No.

However, if the tower is on, and has shared drives, you could pack the monitor and keyb, etc away and still be able to access the drive on the tower from the laptop using windows drive shares.
