Made the choice hey. Weren't you also getting the 100 f2.8 ... or did I miss that change of mind?

Might be available for a wander on Sunday, but was thinking about Karawatha which is no where near a Campos :(

Not change of mind - it was a toss up between 24-7 or 24-105 and the latter won based on longer range and IS. Feng's kindly offered to lend me his 24-7 so I can see "how much better it is" than the "girly" 24-105 that I bought ;)

But it was down to practicality regarding getting together lenses that are most useful esp for later Italy trip. Plenty of dark, dingy monasteries etc will need some IS to clarify things, was my thinking.

can do a swapsidaisy.

on another note, I got asked to do a wedding in september for a friend of mine :| I'm scared :( I might have to have some brainstorming with the resident experts before then... he offered to pay me too! looks like a good excuse to buy a 70-200 f/2.8 IS :D. Also, he's given me plenty of time to plan etc which is good.

scared :o

Check with Borders, but if you do buy from Amazon let me know as I want to get the Photoshop layers book and so we can share freight.

Aussie prices for books are screwed, we are ripped off blind hence me buying lately all my photog books from Amazon.

Agreed - have done that lately, too. Just got the newly released Bryan Peterson book Understanding Shutter Speed last week.

Delivery is quick, price is keen. And your wedding is ages away.

Agree about the escalating prices of Aussie goods considering that the dollar has strenghtened a lot ....

Campos protest ?? what is that ?

Finally made peace with my orders, but there is always "something" around the corner ... :( Should have known I got myself into ...

Research for the right gear could be so addictive ... time to get the right ball head, cheap, light compact and strong ? Now, does the beast exist somewhere ???

Peace always ... Alexson

Campos is the "official channel coffee shop" in the Valley. James St Market precinct have built a wall between them and Campos as they can't stand the competition. This forces people to walk out of their precinct and up a laneway to Campos. A few of us feel strongly about it so we were planning on going shopping there tomorrow with Campos takeaway cups in our own hot little hands.

Re the tripod, Manfrotto seems to be the one of choice around here, I'm sure David will give you the run down on his recent investigations.
