Prob is these have a little nipple thing sticking up, with a screw slot under, but not adjustable. And no corresponding hole in camera body or 70-200 bracket. David

I got two extra QR plates as per accessories on the B&H site related to the 488RC2 head and they arrived as per pic below. I tried the screw thread to remove the side pin (see pic, bottom view) and it just turned round and round. Pair of pliers removed it, though grabbing it from the top (top view). All sorted now. David

I think those pins are for some sort of Video equipment mount. Completely useless for still photography though. Dave

I know the little mounting bracket for my binoculars has the second hole for an anti-rotation pin. The pin is not still in the box is it? If I took it out I would've thought I'd throw it in there.

Think you're right. In my naivety when I bought previous Velbon tripod they'd run out of the $40 cheap and cheerful model, so gave me the "better" CX480 that has that extra pin, although it's retractable. Turns out this model is for video cameras Nick C. wrote in post #5359867 I think it's used for binoculars, spotting scopes, etc as well. If it is, you could reinsert and take it out all over again just to enjoy the experience ![]() Hey - we could make a day of it, all come round to watch, take pictures, post them on the forum....... Whaddya reckon, Feng? You in FTW? David
