Nope. I was hoping to, but I'm working 7-7. Yay for public holiday penalties and 12 hour shifts!

I'm here, just waiting for my isp's online chat person to come out of hiding and tell me why they didn't take my payment even though it was there waiting for them.

I'd call, but I have no voice. And trying to explain stuff to an O/S NESB customer service person is bad enough, let alone when they can't hear me!

I've been waiting about 35 minutes now, but apparently my request is 2 minutes and 6 seconds from the front of the queue. Despite the fact that it was 2 minutes and 8 se...nevermind, I'm in!

Yeah, thanks.

Transcript so far, for those interested:

me: hi. tried to change my c/card details online, but then i got an account saying payment wasn't received. thought i may have got the numbers wrong, but tried again today to pay and the message is CARD BLOCKED. checked with my bank and they say no reason for this. plenty of funds available, have used same card recently online and in person with no problems. any ideas?

them: Hi, I appreciate your patience and apologize for the wait. How may I assist you today?

them: Please hold a moment while I check your account details.

them: The system advises the same message that the card is blocked. You will need to discuss that issue with your bank

me: i have. bank say no problem. i don't have a problem paying anyone online or irl but isp. seems the problem must be with your system.

them: As advised we cannot advise what the issue apart from the message which advises that the card is blocked

me: ok, there is NO ISSUE with my card or account. i can pay everyone in the world, including O/S with my visa. the only company i have a problem with is isp. the bank says the card isn't, wasn't and won't be blocked. who can i speak to who can fix this?

them: There is no one you can specifically speak to. As advised we are receiving a message that the card is blocked

me: i realise what message you are getting, but my bank say the card isn't blocked. and like i said, every other business in the world apart from you seem to be able to get money out of it. so it would seem the problem isn't everyone else, but isp. if i phone your centre and speak to someone in person can i get this escalated?

them: It cannot get escalated. We are getting the message from your bank that this card is blocked. We cannot escalate it because we cannot contact your bank for this issue.

me: so what am i supposed to do?

them: I suggest that you escalate the issue with your bank

me: you aren't listening, are you. I already did that! Sheesh.

me: Thanks for your help.

them: I am sorry but as advised we cannot investigate a credit card issue as that is the message we receive from your bank

me: it's not a c/card issue. it's an isp issue. like i have said several times, no-one else i pay with this ccard has a problem with it. the bank say it isn't blocked. it's only you.

them: Is there anything else I can help you with today?

me: anything else? you didn't help me with this!

I think the only smiley needed in Ruth's transcript is plenty of

Sounds quite funny when you just read their increasingly helpful () responses one after the other. (I like the second one below)

them: As advised we cannot advise what the issue apart from the message which advises that the card is blocked

Yep. And in an update, I contacted my bank (again). Gee, they aren't even getting a request for a credit card payment, let alone rejecting them.

Why wasn't I surprised?

Oh, and I tried paying by phone instead of online. Guess what? STILL didn't work!

Sweet! Is this your old car back, or a new one?

It just gets better. Now you've got to advise the ISP that the message advising of the blocked card can't be the advice of the bank because they're advising that no request is being received.

Sweet! Is this your old car back, or a new one?

Neither. It's a new half a car ;) (two wheels, not four)

Yep. And the bank won't talk to the ISP without my authorisation, which I'm happy to give them, but I doubt they'll phone each other.

Even better! Sorry, I didn't notice the handlebars as opposed to steering wheel in the picture.
