New forum member...Hello all!

Just got it a month ago. Never dropped. New camera. Sometimes it powers on fine and works. Most of the time I hit the power button and in a few minutes I get a gray screen with E10 at the bottom left. I love my camera, but I usually can't get it to work. :o

Thanks. It worked fine for a couple of days. Now, sometimes when i fire it up it works just fine. Most of the time it won't power up and then a delay and then an E10. It's darn near brand new. I know it hasn't been dropped. I have a Transcend 1GB card in it, the original battery all powered up, and when it does work the pics I've taken so far are in there just fine. I had a Sony DSC-T1 and never had a probem with it (other than lousy pics...lol).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure, but it sounds like it's a memory card error. Try running a a full format (not a "low level format") on that memory card. You'll find this under the menu-->settings-->format... in the camera. Or, you will probably need to get a different memory card.

Once you get things working, always make sure you perform a low level format on your card after taking a bunch of pictures (download them first of course) or before a long trip. Solid-state memory can be a bit finicky and formatting keeps those little bits in order.

That would be great if I could get it to power up to do the format. I hit the power button and 20 secs later I get gray screen with E10 on lower left for about 2 seconds. Canon gave me the same answer. If I can ever get it to power to the menu, I'm hoping I can fix it all. Thanks anyways. I'm at an impasse right now and have a really cute baby to take pix of. Bummer.

Did you try different memory cards?? If that doesn't work, I say use it for skeet shooting!!

Yes, give another card a try; also check that the card's unlocked and the card slot is clean. If none of those help, Canon needs to get their warranty service to work on it.

Well, I have my Cam back from Canon...Awesome service. They accepted it immediately for repair, repaired and had it back to me in perfect shape. 10 actual days door to door to door. A+++++ to Canon for standing behind. I bought it on E-Bay new, so I was a bit worried about the warranty, but there were no Q's asked and they kept me in the loop the whole time. Buy Canon with confidence they'll stand behind their products!
