It showed up today and it is pretty sweet. I did some searches and I just want to make sure what I have forund so far is correct.

At the moment I only have a vista machine with no firewire port. I assume this means that I am kinda screwed when it comes to Pfn's and changing any camera settings with the computer.

You might want to consider a Firewire to USB adapter

I was looking for something like that, will it work?

I guess that just leaves having the proper drivers and software on my Vista machine.

Thanks

Excellent question! Short answer, probably. I have no experience with these in particular but I'm sure they're easy to make.

You might want to email them to get a vista-ready guarantee. I run XP-64 so I have the same troubles with drivers etc., but I think that this adapter should work with any problems on XP64 or Vista.

Cheers!

I think you're SOL. Canon has not released any Vista drivers for the old 1D or 1Ds. Even their SDKs for those cameras are not supported under Vista so we can't even program our own interface.
