Mom is thinking over the idea of buying a photo printer.
We have a HP PSC 1315xi right now and it only prints 4x6 I believe.
Plus no matter how much I play with it - the prints come out horrible :(

Would the $99 iP4500 be a good printer for a max of 8x10?

Hi there, well I have had the Pixma IP4000 for quite a while now and that is pretty good, so I would imagine the 4500 will be even better. When I use the Canon Photo Paper Pro, it produces some lovely quality prints.

The 4500 will print decent photos. I tend to like Epson printers a little more. I print all my work at a commercial lab, they do even better, plus it's cheap and way less effort - just save and upload.

I personally am eyeballing the Stylus 1400. Refurbished for $220 from Epson.
But this one is for mom and her budget. I'm broke LOL!
As long as color quality is decent. Mostly she likes to print up stuff she captures with her P&S,
like a lake sunset, etc. so she has a rough idea on what she wants to paint. Always painting come to think 'bout it lol.

I got my IP4300 from newegg a year or so ago for about $80... always gotten great prints (much better the hp Photosmart I used to have), quick, and great all around printer too, since it could do automatic duplexing too to save paper.

I got my IP4500 from newegg a 5 days ago. I didn't like the automatic print head alignment so I did it manually for about 4 times. And still the pictures are coming bad only on a glossy paper( I used a HP photo glossy paper plus). Changed the settings a few times and is still the same. I'm getting a canon glossy paper and will see how the pictures are coming. So far I'm not satisfied with the photo s
