Looking for advice on the combo of 300mm F2.8 and Canon 2X converter. I have used the lens with the 1.4 X and am pretty satisfied with the abillity to fast AF and quality of image, but am unsure of the focusing speed and image qaulity when combined with the 2X converter on the 1 MKIII, any advice would be appreciated

No examples, but I use both Canon converters on my 300 & 1D2. They perform very well. I have heard that the converters were designed for that lens.

You will find many posts praising that combo.

How do you like the 400mm 2.8 Cider? I dont think I would ever own it because of the high price. It must be a gem of a lens.

so far without question the best lens especially for sports, but i have to say the 300 for its versatility is damn close.

Here's one that I took using a 2x converter with the 300L f/2.8 and the 1DII.

The shots are a little softer, and AF a tad slower, than when shot without the Tcon, or the 1.4x.
