Very nice catch of this hard to get bird....I saw one hover over a cactus, and it didn't move at all and just hung there for 15 seconds at a time about 6 inches above the cactus and there was little or no wind. My camera was in the trunk and could not capture that one. steve

Nice action captures, this is the same type of hovering behavior that we see with the American kestrel.

Some days it's just good to be alive to witness such wild things. To capture them in a camera with such great pictures is even better and I hope to be lucky enough myself one day. BTW, I hope you don't mind me saying, they're 'kestrels' :)
