Those of us that have set up websites, I'm sure all of us have form submissions where people can contact us.

My form submission requires an email address (required fields). I get the occasional piece of work from it (thanks Google) from business cards etc. But once in a while I get a somewhat anonymous submission. A made up email address or a generic bob@bob.com (external link) kind of thing.

What kind of constructive criticism emails/submissions do you get? In my quest to find my "style" and what I'm good at, I had a bit of insight into that today...

I'll start off with this odd one that came in today (almost certain it was from a POTN'er)

"Email: visitor@home.com (external link)
Name: Site Visitor
Subject: Had a good look around your site, and have two things to say. i think your NYC and elements section are truly amazing pictures and a joy to view. it\'s certainly clear where your strength and talents lie when compared to the glamour and wedding ones. Well done.
required: Name,Email"

What better way to celebrate my eleven thousandth post than to reply to this thread: So, without further adieu, here's my words of wisdom:

Are you taking those thoughts on board, or hitting the delete key?

I got something abusive through my form mail awhile back.

tone it down bitter old man.

I found it rather amusing because, while I most certainly do sit on a high stool, I'm not bitter and I'm only 26. :D

Well the person said in a nice way, you suck at the beach and bride stuff, stick to walking around and making no money. Not bad advice!

I had someone point out a grammatical error! :) It was something I looked over a million times.

I get some stuff like that every now and then. I got one a few days ago from a person claiming to be the campaign manager for Fred Thompson wanting to use the image of Mr. Thompson on my site. The only political images I have on my site are of Bill Clinton and Ron Paul.

I allow photo comments on my website and most of them are directed toward the subject of the photo but some are directed at me.

From a football game: "You suck! We won like 35-7 and your pictures make it look like the other team won." Actually they scored on big plays while the other team looked better grinding it out but couldn't put the ball into the end zone. I try to cover both teams (50-50) but still photos are often not a good indicator of the outcome.

"Small photos suck!" I guess they don't look very good either when you copy them off the website and try to print them out yourselves. :)

I only delete the comments that use profanity or attack the person(s) in the photo.

I don't recall receiving anything like this before.

As for yourself, I've seen much of your work before, especially the recent NYC work. It's excellent.
And the people and weddings are still very good too, particularly the narrow depth of field shots, and subtle lighting against a sunset etc.
