Last time I got one of these Staples photo paper deals, most of the sheets had a line down the center where the finish wasn't as glossy (no, not the printer -- you could see the line by looking at the unprinted surface under bright light). Fairly noticeable in good light after printing too. Very annoying to discover after running off a few dozen prints.

Hopefully that was a bad batch...I don't suppose these are pro-quality paper packs at this price...

Could have been a random bad batch, sure. Might want to give the paper a close examination before printing though. Just a heads up. Ink ain't cheap.

Dang! I hope the paper works well with HP inks. I just scored a decent printer from Craigslist for $30.

I got the paper in today. The surface is glossy and looks good. No lines or defects. However on the back of the box, I see that this is their "medium grade" photo paper, "best for photos to share" with a 4 out of 5 star image quality, feel, and fade resistance.
Their "Photo Supreme" paper is 5-star quality and best for "portraits or framed photos". It also claims that "Staples brand photo paper doesn't play favorites. It's specifically desgned, tested and proven to work great with the leading national brands of inkjet printers and ink cartredges.
The Staples 100% Satisfaction Guarantee
If you're not 100% satisfied with this Staples brand product, just return it anytime. It's that easy."

I think this paper is going to work fine for what I have in mind. If it had lines or defects, I would send it back like they say to.
Great deal, IMO.
