Here are a couple I took today, both in RAW and then downsized to 800 wide jpg for the forum. Taken about 5:30pmEDT with indirect sun (open shade) with cloudy white balance, ISO50, program mode, zoomed to 102mm and macro mode, UV filter. Betty Boop was 1/50, f/4.0 and Sun Goddess was 1/100, f/4.0. Shown as taken, except for cloning out some chemical spots on leaves on Betty Boop and slight cropping of Sun Goddess. Comments please.

Del:

I think the Yellow Rose is one fine picture. Great capture and the depth of field is excellent. I like it!

The red rose is also a good photo. The red color is not fantastic, a little washed out. If that is how it looked then it is a great picture as well. I have taken so many pictures of red flowers of all kinds, that I have lost count. Very little satisfaction.:( The sensors on the CCD just don't do red as well as other colors especially in higher light. The lower the light the better the results. I was looking for the thread that this forum discussed this in detail, but could not find it. But, I did find my best red rose color. It is under critique, "Trying out lighting" if you want to look.

Keep expermenting on those red flowers and if you get a winning method, please share it with me. I am obsessed with so many red flowers in my yard. I want to get them.:D

Del,

Here is another red red picture that I took in almost dark light, then I lightened it up on the computer and the result is in my opinon a rich color. The same rose taken 30 minutes earlier was not fit to keep. Digital is great!:)
