Another snow scene from Maine. The original field did not have a sky so I had to add one here using the HDR technique.

Feb 20, 2008 16:50 | #2 All rules are meant to be broken, but I think you would have a better shot if you followed the rule of thirds on this one. Put the horizon 1/3 up from the bottom or 1/3 down from the top. Pick what your main subject is, the clouds or the snow, then let that fill 2/3 of the shot. Good job on the exposure. 7D MKII ■ 10-22 ■ 15-85 ■ 28-135 ■ Σ 50-150 ■ 70-200 f4L ■ 100-400L ■ 580EX II

Nothing much to see and is not that compelling. But, this time of the year in Maine, snow scenes are about all you can do when you are too busy to take trips around the State. I would like to head down the coast to see what I can find, but since I slipped on the ice a few weeks ago, I haven't felt much like doing this--at least not until I recover a bit more. Gary

Feb 21, 2008 09:25 | #8 I think you summed it up, Gary. It just really has no strong subject. It would also help if you'd post smaller. Most of us can't see 1024px vertical inside a browser, so it's very hard to get a feel for the shot. Also, a centered horizon is better than one slightly off center, which looks like an accident. If you aren't going to use the Golden Ratio, go with symmetry. ~ Clint :: Galleries
