LOVe this shot! Tigher crop maybe?

Sure, here it goes. Sorry for the low quality, I was using my old 75-300 f4-5.6 II lens.

That is remarkable.

Can you read my entire post please? Then I'd like to see you take a 4" shot handheld...

I set mine on a beanbag on the roof/hood of my car. I had only an 85mm 1.8 lens with me and no good tripod (using self-timer). The one time I don't have at least a 200mm lens and a 1.4x converter wouldn't you know it... When I got home I shot some pics of the ordinary moon with the 200 and converter because it had given me the bug.

My best settings were ISO 200, 2.5 sec SS, F/11. Any longer SS had a trace of blur and I wanted it to be sharp, erring on the side of sharp towards infinity. (F/8 is probably the sharp spot of this lens.)

damn...you guys are getting some nice shots w/o tripod. Where are you guys taking the photos from? my friend and i tried, but we get too much light pollution.

I set up on the roof/hood of my car with my backpack and other objects making a tunnel around the lens to block the light.

Working on some progression pics, going to three more of the backside of the eclipse. Shot with a Canon S3.

This is the first really good excuse I can think of that I might want a timered remote. A series like this would be nicely done and evenly spaced without too much PP for placement.

Travisj definitely got a better one than I did but this was the first time I ever tried taking a picture of Saturn.

I got a question-why does eveyone who posts their pictures with like 'joe blogs photography' stuck on it? Do they think the pictures are going to be stolen?

Ok, so it is the night after and I was to tired and disappointed with the cloud cover that rolled in to sort my pics out.

But heres what I got. And remember kids, the moon rises in the east not from the west. I've already taken flack from some people about the progression, but I also had to remind them that if they seen the moon rise in the west, then they must live on Alpha Centori,(Spelling) or we have a huge problem.

The second pic is what spoiled my viewing pleasure. I so wanted to do the whole thing. Oh well.

A composite image - I tried to match the view from my backyard.

My best with a 20d 70-300 usm III on a sunapk 5800 med duty tripod in the back yard. This is a 100% crop. I have no idea what the setting were on the camera were because I was changing them on every shot trying to get the bright part darker.

That is what I used for my shot. Here is another that worked out.
