Ok so I did it....this is my first time attempting to photograph the eclipse....I dont think it is too bad...I did crop it. Would love comments and advise....thanks
Actually now that I see it, it looks a bit rough....think I cropped it too much....oh well thats the learning stage...

Same here man, we're all new to this :p Like leaving IS on when on my tripod :(, everything was coming out so blurry and then I remembered IS and tripods can give a sort of looping shake. Sure enough, I think that was it.

I put my Tamron 75-300 on, set it up on the tripod through the dirty window in my apartment, and quickly decided to just give up. lol

Need at least 400mm to really see any detail of the moon anyways. I took a few nice shots of the moon before with my Sony H5 (12x zoom with 1.7x t-con lens).

300mm crop it near 100% and sharpen will do a fine job. I tried to shoot it as well but I gave up, because I didn't have a good angle in my apartment. I would of had to go out into the streets, but I wasn't about to take my tripod out into the city streets in the freezing cold.

I had my IS turned off the entire time, but any exposure longer than 3.2 secs would blur things more and more. Some of the sharpest shots I got were at 1/4s with f5.6.

Since I was out there for a while, I just experimented.

But not to worry, earthlings. I have heard that the moon will still be there tomorrow (sans eclipse) but still good enough to continue practicing its photography.

You already got the moon all shiny and sharp? Then go onto Saturn, let's see how good a pic you can get :p ...

Looks good, kinda cloudy where I was too. This is the best one that I got. I just got my camera a couple days ago so I'm new at it.

And my pics, which were pretty lame with the 85, but I liked some I got of Orion last night with the 85 and the 17-40, even caught the Nebula for once:

Mine didn't come out too great either. I shot with both the IS on and off and I really didn't notice a difference. I guess I can practice on a regular moon so in 2010 I will be ready for the next lunar eclipse.
