Dude, thanks SO MUCH for posting these shots. I wish they had covered this on VS like they do the tour!

Are there alot of spectators along the way? Is it supported well?

Alot of people came out for the Sierra Climb and quite a few of them rode up to the top.

Versus covers the tour at 8pm PST.

Very nice. You did a good job capturing just how steep that climb is. I've ridden up it a few times and it is a back breaker. I'll be at the Rose Bowl for the finish.

seems to be rather crowded near the bottom stretch of 13% gradient straight, as well as at the very top. people tend to crowd at the turns near the bottom. otherwise spectators are sparse over the 3 mile climb.

i walked 1/2 mile up and found a couple of turns with very few spectators. i liked that location as that allows me to move around and setup my flash. too bad that also means i missed out on the atmosphere generated by the spectators in other places.

before the riders, a car with big PA horns annoucned the arrival of the riders. it is not like TdF where they have tons of sponsor vehicles throwing out goodies hour before the riders. i guess the advertising will get there if they see enough spectators.
