I have been searching around but haven't had much luck. I have the sigma 17-70, canon 85 1.8, and the canon 70-200 F/4.

I am wanting to get a ND filter and a circular polarizer filter for each of these lenses. Which ones area the ones I should go with? Please give the names and specs of each filter for each lens if possible. Thanks to all here. This is a great forum.

Not looking for the cheap ebay filters either, I know better than tog o with those =)

I suggest B+W MRC Circular polarizers. That's what I use. Are you looking at straight ND filters or graduated ND?

Ill second that B+W CPL recommendation. Check out hvstar.com for the best prices.

K, good call on the B+W MRC's.

As for the ND, I had been thinking of getting the straight ND's, but want what's best for sunsets, and also what helps to keep the sky/clouds from blowing out.

Sunsets and keeping the clouds from blowing out - that'd be ND grads. By your lenses, I think the Cokin P holder (get the WA one, saves trouble in the long run) with the adapter rings for your 3 lenses (58, 67 and 72 mm?) will do. Singh-Ray makes outstanding ND Grads essentially to order. They're about $100 each to fit the P holder. They have a good article by the late Galen Rowell on their use (external link) reprinted from Outdoor Photographer.

Would this be the WA holder?

Yep. Looking at B&H, though, it seems you might be financially better off by getting a kit with the regular P holder and one adapter ring (external link). ISTR they used to have the kits for the WA holders too. Wonder if Adorama still has them?

Yea, was looking at the reg kits for the zoom lenses. The wide angles were the ones I was concerned over .. the reg holder may show up in the frame if rotated slightly or so.

and I guess this would be the ring (72mm) I would need for the WA ..

OR the much cheaper ring here - What's the difference in them for the price??

A number of people have just cut off the front slot or two from the regular holder. You don't ATM have any really wide lenses. And at 72 mm front diameter, I think the 17-70 will probably clear even the regular one.

I will be obtaining a 10-22 down the road, that lens would have to use the WA holder i suspect?

Probably. My 24-70 on the 5D needs it.

I'll go ahead and pick up a WA holder for future purposes and just in case.

These are the Singh Rays I found .. these should do for both the WA and reg holders ey?
Both soft and hard edge .6 (2 stop) measures 84 x 120mm.

Yep. The only difference between the regular and wide holders is the number of filter slots. The regular has 3; the wide has 1.
