So, I've decided I'm going to narrow down my camera bag to a few lenses. 3 zooms and two primes. I've got the two primes I want (nifty fifty, 85 F1.8), but I'm trying to decide what would be the best zooms over a large focal range.

I was thinking of going with the Sigma 10-20 to cover the wide end, Canon 24-105 F4 L to cover most everything in between, and the Sigma 100-300 F4.

Am I missing anything? Any other recommendations? Thoughts? Comments?

Depends on what you want to shoot. Your list sounds good. The only think I'd change, if it fits your budget, is swap the 100-300 for a 100-400(or one of sigmas newly announced long zooms). Besides the extra length, IS/OS is VERY handy on long lenses.

I thought about the 100-400L, but the F5.6 bothers me. I do go to football and baseball games and sometimes shooting things from the stands is tough at that stop.

True. Sports + bad light + f/5.6 isn't great. For the non-action shots across the field, the IS would give you a 1 stop advantage over the f/4, and more reach for tighter shots. Trade-offs<g>.

Why the canon or the tokina over the sigma?
