You really can't go wrong with Brenthaven:

Sensibly designed and incredibly tough and long lasting. Can't fault them.

:) I have two of the Brenthavens, the current Prolite III (http://www.brenthaven.com/catalog-prolite-iii-mac.html (external link)) and what ever the equivalent of it was called before the Prolite replaced it. Both of them offer plenty of strage space and protect the 17" MacBook Pros very well.

One of them is around 4 years old and still looks pretty much as new, except for the odd bit of paint that has come off the metal zips. I'm completely impressed with them.

Sadly the case I want doesn't fit in the charger. Take that into consideration before purchase.

But this one is next on my list:

If it came in carbon fibre I'd be happy.

I use the best bags made. Handmade in San Francisco, comes with a neoprene sleeve for the laptop which then fits inside the messenger style bag. Pricey, but worth every penny. and fits the charger too.

Way cool buckle choices too: paraglider or seatbelt buckle.

Check out STM, many options in NSW. Mine doubles up well as an alternative camera bag also. Centre compartment is padded. They are very hard wearing.
I have the Large Loop 17".

I've had a Crumpler Team Player XL for two years. It's done a great job protecting my PB 17; it's an easy 'carry' (as a climber for many years this is important); it has useful pockets and awesome capacity; and I now frequently use it as a camera bag. I'm happy.

The one downside - it's unobtyrusive black on the outside, but a particularly virulent baby diarrhea / puke green inside.
