so got my tenba bag Tenba PM-17C Messenger Shoulder Bag i must say i am impressed, fits the following

17" laptop
lacie 250gb external drive
power cords and charger (which is damn huge)
mouse
cf card reader (sandisk extreme 3)
other cords for lacie

still has plenty of room, i think i could easily fit a small macbook in it too and damn comfortable and i love the canvas finish feels extremely strong and not to mention the unbelievably storng buckle/clips, ill take some shots in a few days but for under $100 damn its good

Lowepro EX 1100. I think it's made for a 15 but it fits.

I have the Meta from Spire. I also bought the Boot for my MBP. I have to say this is by far the best backpack I have ever owned. Very well made, and so much room in it it's not even funny. It has so much room that im afraid one of these days im gonna throw out my back because I put too much crap in it :) They are pricy, but i dont see myself ever having to buy another backpack, and the Boot is prety nice too. Here is the link to their packs: http://www.spireusa.com/products/backpacks.htm (external link)

EDIT: Specs say 2800 cubic inches of storage for the meta.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

YES! It is a nice bag BUT !!!!

Yes, BUT the advertising shows it with a camera body in it. Sorry, this is not a bag made for SLR camera equipment. It looked perfect and sleek. I naturally assumed that there were some compartments holding the body I saw. I have no idea how they propped the camera up to take the image.

Still a nice bag for laptop and other non body/lens gear. . . . unless someone comes up with some nice rigid soft dividers to protect the stuff!

I hate deceptive advertising! Grrr!!!

I travel a lot with a laptop. Even a small load that you carry often would screw up your back sooner or later. I was flying from Mexico one time and handed my laptop bag to the mexican girl at the check in (they were doing pre-inspections of some sort) I had a "normal" load in it - a medium-sized laptop, charger, mouse & network cable, a writing pad, a binder with some paperwork. The girl nearly dropped it, almost looked like she was going to fall over. That made me think - this can't be right for my back. I got a cheap rolling backpack and trust me I do feel the difference, you won't make me put all that crap on my shoulder ever again.
