70-200 barrel problem

eagle - ok maybe not two mm, or even one mm, but u can definately move it.
its not one solid piece.

i will contact the seller / camera repair shops and see how much its going to be before i take it under the knife.

If it's taking great pictures, maybe just use it for awhile and see if it gets worse.. *shrug*

Oh sorry about that, your right. Mine moves just enough to register when intentionally tying to move the focus ring up and down the barrel. I didn't notice any movement at all when rotating the ring as designed.

If it bothers you that much it may be worth it to send it in to canon for a quote and then re-evaluate how much it bothers you after the quote. I wouldn't go taking apart the lens yourself if it only cost $100 to get it fixed by the pros.

definately :) thanks for the info guys.

i just found out KEH is down the street from my school, so i will see how much it will cost to get repaired

it is REALLY odd, when i wobble the barrel back and fourth, the focus ring will zoom up itself. lol, if you guys want to see i can make a short video!
