Hi everyone, I haven't been around here for a while but I am in need of some help.
When I open up the memory card door on my MKII it gets stuck (it used to swing open), I have to then stick my nail in between the gap to open it. It's not a major problem , just a bit impractical.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a was to fix it?
Or should I just sent it off to canon and have a full clean while they're at it...

Interesting problem. Hopefully someone can help you out. You may want to start up a new thread for that.

Thanks for the comments, I hope so. I have the MK2 (without N, I hope the AF is the same), and I'm waiting to have some time to go out and take some birds in flight photos!! I promise to post some images!!
Thanks again

Ash1456, Will it pop open if you turn the camera to allow the door to drop? Might be worth modifying your technique if you dont access all day long every day as opposed to paying hundreds possibly to repair it.

It wont open that way either. I might try some oil/lubricate stuff on a small cloth and wipe that on the hinge thingy and see if I can get that to work. If not I'll probably just put up with it.
Thanks

Could there be something lodged inside the hinge?

Same problem here. About 1 in 3 openings, it just doesn't pop up, I have to tilt the camera and it will swing open. Sometimes it pops after a small hesitation of one or two seconds. Mine is past 300 000 actuations. This thing is recent... so I guess it's normal. Probably just a tired spring.

Fixed, There was some weird stuff that caught the door when opening and closing, near where the magnification buttons are. I rubbed it off and the door is as good as new.

Has anyone on here got a 16-35 or 17-40?
I am thinking of getting one for the odd wedding but mostly landscapes. I would benefit from f/2.8 for low light stuff but is a 17-40 and 50/1.8 + left over cash better than the 16-35?
and what are they like on MKII/N's

Well it's like 1.3x :)

If you are actually doing landscape, you probably won't need f/2.8.

But for walkaround in low light, that's where it will probably handy (group pics/no flash, etc).

Oh, its killing me having to wait until Tuesday to get my 1D2! It doesn't help that I've been reading this entire thread (only half way through) and looking at everyone's great images...

Waiting has to be the worst thing!

I told you not to pick your nose when your holding the camea.

At least wipe your finger on your shirt first.
