I've got a friend who's Mark II is up in the 500k range - professional sports shooter, never has replaced the shutter since he got it. Granted, he's with CPS and has several backup bodies, but either way, you might just get that lucky. It's not like CPS members get tweaked bodies. :)

Thanks James, I think I could live with 500K, that would take about the rest of my life.. LOL

Hey mastertech01, don't forget to register your new toy at the Canon website. If you do you'll get a packet that includes a $100 service voucher along with some other benefits.

Well I got the MKII yesterday. When I purchased it on Ebay I was pretty PO'd at the seller because he would not answer email in regards to sending a photo so I could get shutter count and he acted like he didnt know in the auction description though he was a pro photographer.. To be fair Ill say it was only about 5 hours before the auction ended. I can see now why he may have been dodging the answer.. 244,829! That number is just 8 short of the serial number! Sheesh! Surprizingly the body is about as clean as any used 1 series Ive gotten, a little worn paint here and there but the grip material and everything else is well intact and all functions seem to work fine. Shutter is strong and quiet as they get, sensor has not appearant damage. Despite high count it seems to work as well as any Ive seen.

Interestingly it came with the box and every accessory was still brand new condition except for the battery charger which showed its share of bumps and bruises but fully functional. In fact there is an extra DC battery adaptor brand new. Even the manuals and all software still sealed in package.

I dont know whether to be mad because of the high shutter count or just take it on the chin and move on. It still functions well and seller did say shutter count was high. He just didnt say it was sky high. I guess for 800.00 it was about as cheap as I was going to find one so Ill just keep her and learn to use it and not think about numbers... quality is job one.. heh!

Meanwhile this powerful AA filter has me doubting my Sigma lens quality. I need to adjust for awhile before I make any judgements. My Magic Drainpipe seems to work pretty well with this camera but I havent had it outside to get some real world pics just yet.

Even if the shutter dies its not the end of the world.

Isn't that only for new bodies?

Regardless, pics du jour.

That Shea gets around a lot more than I do (& takes very nice photos too) but here's a few from where I go on most vacations, the island of Cozumel, Mexico. I go mainly to dive but since I'm involved with a travel forum I shoot lots of resort photos too.

Well in that case you're welcome to view whatever interests you in my travel or event albums. There are many from Cozumel & a nice tour of the island of Kauai, AKA Hawaii's Garden Isle, which has the distinction of having the highest rainfall per year on our little planet.

I understand that connection comment all too well. I'm in a rural area and had very low speed dial up for many years but now have low speed wireless that is all over the map speed wise depending on time of day & weather. It's way better than the dial up was but still has it's moments. If you want to see the basic shot info just click the "more info" tab under "photo information" to the right of the photos. Hope you don't get too bored with some of them. I try to shoot the resorts I stay at plus get permission for photo tours at the other popular resorts to share with out members on the travel forum.
