That Shea gets around a lot more than I do (& takes very nice photos too) but here's a few from where I go on most vacations, the island of Cozumel, Mexico. I go mainly to dive but since I'm involved with a travel forum I shoot lots of resort photos too.

I usually get to travel somewhere new and different once per year (the benefits of being a student and getting 4 months of the year off). Although I usually work, the shots I've been posting from Utah were when I took a month off a couple years ago, and the Ireland shots are from this past summer, when I had the opportunity to work there. Sadly that won't be happening this year, as I have to take summer courses :( although I may get away for a week or two in August (hopefully to Oregon). So most of my pics from this year will be from good old Vancouver Island (which I've never really explored to be honest).

Nice Dive shots Cicopo! I've never been to Mexico, and I've always wanted to dive, but can't due to a lung problem. Those sunny skies and blue waters sure look nice (and the turtles look pretty friendly too).

The Two Redtail shots were great!

The Saker....well I don't know who would let you take a pic of a bird in that feather condition....

The European Gos looks good also....

Meanwhile this powerful AA filter has me doubting my Sigma lens quality. I need to adjust for awhile before I make any judgements. My Magic Drainpipe seems to work pretty well with this camera but I havent had it outside to get some real world pics just yet.

Yea, that AA filter takes some getting used to.

^^ I would be less than comfortable taking that first shot. Cool bridge though, and I like the beach with the waterfall coming out directly onto it.

Wow, great images finding their way to this thread! :)

Anyone notice a green cast that Im seeing? I know the original 1D with CCD had that but wasnt aware this CMOS sensor did. I think I noticed switching from Adobe to SRGB.

I've never seen a green cast. Double check your WB settings, maybe the Green shift has been added (WB button + WB +/- button)

Love those Redwoods Shea! :D

Man I played with those WB buttons for 15 minutes and could not get the WB correction to initialize, using the manual for guidance even........... Then It suddenly dawns on me that there are TWO sets of WB +/- buttons and the lower set is part of the grip controls! LOL After I switched them on they work just fine... sheesh!

You know, the more I play with this camera, the more I like. And there is actually a relaxed feeling using a camera with high shutter count on it. You find that you can snap as many test shots and do as many settings experiments as you please without any concern about depreciating your cameras value. Who is going to care whether you have 245K or 260K? Its depreciation has reached its limit as long as I take reasonable care of it. Im kinda glad I got a well proven pro model now. :)

I got mine with 17K clicks on it for $1800 Can almost exactly 2 years ago. You paid $800 US, so I'd say you got a very good deal -- I don't think the extra 200000 clicks is worth nearly $900.

Time to stop taking test shots and go outside!!! I'll be back tomorrow looking for your posts...unless the UPS guy decides to actually show up with my new Lee GND setup, in which case I will be outside as well.

Both with my prior 50D's kit 28-135, haha. I didn't feel like bringing anything else along.

Hehe, In due time friends. Im going to the wildlife refuge and Mount Scott this weekend if all goes well.

I thought I would share a corny tool I fabricated a couple months ago. I made it for use with a 5D but have used it for this camera and it works well with it also. It is a simple low light focus assist lamp without having to have a full sized flash attached. I purchased a broken 420EX for parts. I simply removed the head and wiring harnes and capped it. It works great and doesnt force the camera into flash sync shutter speeds. It is similar to what a ST-E2 would be without the flash triggering components. It holds 4 AA batteries instead of the expensive battery that the ST-E2 uses and lasts a looooooooong time on one set. Great for photographing in very dark lighting. So far so good and only cost me about 30 bucks to build.

Pretty clever, I might have to do that. I've always been miffed that there's no assist beam built in.
