----> get the L IS, its a GREAT lens without spending the extra $$$ right now (unless you can) and if you don't like the IS.... turn it off :)

And it's still a great camera...that is what is killing me! I think too many people get "Mark IV-itis" and have to get the newest and latest body out there. I love the 1D2! I don't see any need to get a new body any time soon.

for Sub $1K (shoot the one I saw was $775 with 2 batteries) it's an amazing camera and a steal considering people are trying to sell 40D's for $600. Not just the 1DmkIV but I suspect the 7D has some play in this too :P

**EDIT**

LOL just took a peek at the BST, someone is trying to sell a gripped 40D for $800

Having 1D2 prices go down is good for those of us buying into a 1D system. Now if only some of that L glass would go down as well. :D

yeah, i'm wondering if I should buy second 1D right now or wait till they level off a little bit, but then i'm wondering if i'll still find any with such low shutter counts on them and great conditions....

Its hard to see some going for $775 price you mentioned (if same one I'm thinking of, it was a little rough looking, but i'm sure it's still a good camera (sold already correct? ) ) And other's still seem to be asking for $950-$1100 for a 1DMk2 and i recently seen a 2N on local CL asking $1700  I wonder if he knows their up to a 1D Mk4 now....

nope, it's one I saw that looked clean. IDK about the rules here, but I know on other forums, they don't like us posting links to BST....if it's cool here I'll link you. it's not from the guy that was selling the 2 beat up 1Ds

The one i'm looking at locally (and on FM) is asking $950 with 4 batteries, and 27,318 shots.... But she hasn't emailed me back since i said I've got the money and want to come look at it... seems a little odd to me, she answers all my questions until I say i have money, now nothing  maybe she realized I was going to try and talk her down another $100

Tim,
That price seems fair, but not overly cheap. I gave $415 for an "ugly" 1D2 about a year ago. It had no battery or charger though.

I'm going to put mine up for sale tonight, it's been a fun run in this thread!

I'm thinking it's got 27k on it, couple of small marks above the body opening, but otherwise excellent and has served me well!

moew!!!!!
