Anyone in this thread buy their 1D Mark II used from Adorama? I'm looking to replace my 30D as my second body and am considering a used 1D Mark II. Before I bought my 1D Mark III I had a 1D Mark II N. I shoot sports and weddings and my 30D just can't keep up or I am extremely spoiled by the 1D:D

Well I just joined the 1 D Mk ll club officially. I picked up a great camera from another member here ( alscheppersmotorco ) and I'm looking forward to having some good opportunities to run it through it's paces hopefully when the weather clears this weekend.
The first thing I noticed when I took a couple test shots was the speed! I clicked off multiple shots in nothing flat. The auto focus was in the same category as my 1 Ds ll but this camera will make me leave the 40D at home or get my wife to use it and sell the Xti.
I can't wait to venture outside town to see if the nesting Bald Eagles are still around.

I went ahead and picked up a used 1D Mark II from Adorama. It's condition is described as Very Good. I can't wait to see what the actual condition and shutter count is. I paid $600 for it and will have it Friday. I'll be using it as a second/backup body.

Congrats to all of view new 1DMkII users! I use it along with my 50D, and they both complete each other very well. The 1DMkII has not as much as Mps, but with decent glass, every pixel reports in for duty

Any problems, drop me an email - you do have a 14-day money back guarantee, and a 90-day warranty for repair / replacement.

BTW, you can always contact with me before making a used purchase if you'd like pictures of a unit before commiting yourself.

Congrats, $600 wow!

Yes, properly framed 8.2MP is plenty of resolution. I have a 40D and T1i/500D for times when I need a lighter package, a bit more reach and pixels but my 1D Mark II is my favorite still by far. Put 21000 shots through it in 3 months...

Was having some Err99's so I sent it to Canon who just cleaned it and said to check my batteries. So far, knock on wood, no more Err99s even though I'm using the same batteries (I did do the refresh thing just to be sure).

Thanks Helen!!! I have ordered lots of used and refurbished equipment from Adorama and have never had a problem. I did not know I had a 90 day warranty...thanks for that information.

As I said earlier, this will be replacing my 30D. I have NO problems with 8.2 MP and love the file size. I have owned 30D, 40D, 50D (a few), 1DIIN, 5D (a few), and 1DIII; the 1D series is my favorite camera hands down. I don't care about the size/weight of the camera body. I was shooting an event earlier this week and my 30D kept missing focus which is what prompted me to replace it. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad camera but when you have 1D on one arm and 30D on the other, the 30D is going to feel VERY sluggish. I ended up putting it away and just switched lenses (which I hate doing in the field) on my 1DIII when I needed a different perspective.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting my 1DII and putting my 30D on the chopping block:mrgreen:

I just bought a used 1dmk2 from adorama. Camera body itself is in fine condition and seems to work great. What program can I use to check the shutter count on the body?

I purchased a used MkII from Adorama. It was rated as Very Good. Aside from brassing on the shoe mount and on the corners, it would have passed for new. No complaints from me.

I'm looking at 580ex's now and will probably buy from Adorama.

thanks. I'm in the same situation as the other posters here - VG mk2 from adorama for $600. 1dcount says that my shutter has about 90k actuations, which isn't low but doesn't sound too high either.

Remember, though, you can't always trust 1Dcount, or any of the other programs. If at any time, someone's personal settings have been uploaded to your camera, it will change the "shutter count" that 1Dcount reads.

When I got my 1D2, the person I bought it from said it had 60-70K on the shutter. When I checked it out with 1Dcount, it told me that I had 197K on the shutter. When I sent my 1D2 in recently to Canon to be cleaned, they gave me an accurate count of 75K. So, take all 1D2 shutter counts with a grain of salt. It could be way off!

On a shutter that is supposed to be good for 200k actuations, 90k really isn't bad. My 1D2N that I used to have had ~150K and never missed a beat.

I use topaz denoise if I start getting noise, and find it cleans up the noise beautfully, and still leaves good detail. But I agree with everyone who has post about making sure you don't underexpose with the 1DII. It can get noisy at even lower ISO's if you do

I have a quick Q about my 1D MK II.
What ISO speed do you guys get up to until you start to experience noise? I started noticing it at 400 and 500, and was kind of sad that that's the highest I could put my ISO to until I noticed the noise. Noise reduction is off.

Thanks guys.

cathy :)
