no the 70-200 2.8 IS doesn't need one since the front element doesn't move allowing it to seal. keep in mind only the IS versions of the 70-200 have weather sealing.

You may be correct, I just re-read the manual and it makes no mention of requiring a filter to complete weather sealing. I do not have the manual for my 24-70 with me, so I can not check what it says about filters.

Probably not. I'm shooting for the UO newspaper, and there's hardly enough time to even shoot all of them. I'm trying to keep my sorting low by not shooting much of anyone else too unless I see something really cool.

ah got it man. I know the Poly Post (paper for CPP) would love a shot or two from that event for the first issue of next year.

Damn you have some legit kit for being as young as you are

Rocket blower and a $12 set of "clean" brushes from an ebay seller. Copy/paste this:

CleanSkies SENSOR CLEANING Brush Set For Digital SLR

.....into the serach on ebay. I have used these and the rocket blower successfully on every Canon DSLR I have had.

Thanks, mine is super dirty and I've been having no luck with only a blower (I have a hurricaine one). Will definitely try one of these brushes.

Thanks :D Gotta pick that up, and a rocket blower. I have a little blower, but it doesn't seem to work too well.

You'll get two brushes in separate baggies....one is labeled for the sensor and the other for the sensor box. Obviously, you don't want to mix them up.... and of course you will put them back in their own baggie. The idea is to use the one for the sensor box first, and be careful to NOT touch the AA filter with it, because it may get contaminated with lubricant from the moving parts. I always start out with a few puffs from the blower to knock all the rocks, grasshoppers and small children out of there, then move to the sensor box cleaning brush...then another quick blow, then move to the sensor with it's brush. Then a recheck to see if it's good or if I missed any, then repeat the sensor again if necessary.
If you get lube contamination on the AA filter, you'll have to advance to a wet clean.

I like my 1Dmk2 so much....I just bought another one. KEH had one with charger and battery for $645....so I grabbed it. I have been using my 1DS alongside the 1D2....but to be honest, for anything fast paced, the FF body is a bit slow.
I had been thinking that I would buy a Mk3....but every time I think that, all I have to do is look at the images I get from the 1D2....and I realize this camera does what I need to get done. And now they are such a bargain.....amazing.

Oh yeah, on the advice of some of you here, I got a lenmar battery the other day. I guess I got lucky, because the latch on the one I got is nicely secure, and so far it's working well in the 1DS, which is a bit of a battery hog.

Do any of you guys use focus screens that are not the default one? I'm thinking about getting one, but I'm so lost as to which ones are the best, and what ones are supported for the 1d2.
