When i have to shoot backstage for the Spooky demenseia show i have to use ISO 1600 just to just get a decent shutter speed. When exposed correct Noise isn't really bad at all. When you start boosting the exposure etc during PP then it falls apart quickly.

***GOD I hate flickers new design** its so difficult to grab the link.

I can typically get half a stop of boosting in PP before it starts falling apart at ISO 1600. At lower ISO speeds I can get a lot out of the files before they start getting messy. The files off the 1D2 handle PP'ing extremely well.

I second that about Flickers new design. Only thing I do like about it is that they finally added a next and previous button above the image.

After seeing Thoff's cat, which resembles one of mine, I've decided to post up some pics of the kids.

First up is an iso 1600 shot with NR, 70-200f/4L @ f/4.
Second is an iso 400 shot with the 85/1.8 @ f/2.5.

Maybe someone can help me here. I have a 1dmk2, works amazing, a little over 105k on the shutter. The only problem I'm having with it is that the wheel on the back is starting to not turn quite as easily as it used to. Is there a simple and relatively low risk way of improving the wheel's turning?

Try turning it vigorously and see if it helps "unstick" stuff? If not just send it to Canon I guess. I would never try applying anything to it.

Neither would I. There is a weather seal there and messing with it could compromise that seal (if it isn't already). If it bugs you, I'd send it to Canon to tweak.

:( I guess I'll keep using it as is, and if it gets a lot worse I'll send it in. Sadly the closes repair depot is 1600km away.

Just like the one you use with 20D/5D etc.

I suggest getting a card reader, as getting the cord for the camera (any USB 2.0 to mini USB cord works) works too, but it is super slow.

You can get a Delkin card reader for $15 and it is fast (what I use) to upload the photos.

To transfer files, the USB cable can be used but it is slooooooooooooooow as it is USB 1.1. Firewire is faster but a card reader is much better. The Firewire cable is needed to change the camera owner's name and personal functions though you can at least reset the settings to get rid of the old name if you don't have Firewire.

Yes card reader is better choice.

I haven't been able to delete the previous user's name although I cleared all settings. Where is it stored?

I really thought that would do it. It is stored in the camera along with the personal settings. Which clear did you do? Might have to try the battery trick though I'm not sure that will work either.
