My 1d ii just err 99'd after bumping into a small pole -_- the shutter won't go completely up. I kinda wanted to cry. Lol
Try a different lens, different CF card, different battery.

Do a bulb exposure or manual sensor cleaning (only kind on the mark II) and look at the sensor, is the sensor half covered of fully uncovered? Half illuminated could mean the shutter or the mirror but either way it needs to be repaired. Still sounds odd, 1D's can take hard knocks usually. flickr
