I think I'm going to do the same. I want a 1d3 now

Price difference between a used mk3 and a 7d isn't all that much. The only reason I can see to use a 7d is if you want the extra reach, or video.

Agreed, don't want another 7d vs ___ but I'd rather have the mk3 anytime, anyday

When I first got my 7D I thought it would replace my 1DII. But after using the 7D and viewing the images, I decided to keep my 1DII. If I sold it I wouldn't get much for it anyway (I don't have the Canon charger) plus I don't want to sell it and regret it.

How often do you find yourself using the 1DII when you have the Mark III and 7D in your bag? I know my 40D doesn't get a lot of use these days with the 1DII and IIN in my bag though at times I do use it for sure so I keep it.

I really like the files that I get out of my 1DII so it gets used quite often. My 1DII definitely gets used before my 7D. I'm still trying to decide if I really like my 7D enough to keep it. All of the features are very cool but not necessary. I'm thinking of selling it and just keeping my two 1D bodies. I could really use the money to fund a 24-70L 2.8.

So I used the Lenmar for the first time this last week. I started the shoot using it and near the end of the first day I had a dead battery. I had about 150 shots and it was dead. I thought this rotten, stinking 3rd party piece of crap.:(

The next day I, of course, went back to the Canon battery and had exactly the same experience!

Could I possibly have gotten a weak lenmar at exactly the same time my Canon battery is dying? The only other thing I can think of is that I am viewing the shots on the LCD that much. Which I do, but that much?

The other issue is that I am having problems with my shutter button. I missed some shots, not a lot, because the shutter would delay firing. It would then also sometimes fire twice when I would go to shoot? I shoot in incredibly dusty conditions so there is no question the shutter release button could be dusty. I looked at it this morning and it is coated with dust. Any way to go at cleaning the shutter release button other than sending it in to Canon?

....;)

I could have sent it in more than a week ago. But in keeping with the way I do everything I waited until the last minute so I had to overnight it:o $58 FedEx!:( But I need it for a 3 day shoot at South Dakota State U next week.

But I just got cost of repair back from Canon. $158. They didn't say what they are doing just a cost of repair. I assume they are replacing the shutter button. But hopefully this resolves this issue we discussed. I will post a follow up after my assignment.

Ron, Ron, Ron.....what are we gonna do with you ?! You remind me of Miss Kelly, loading saddles and all the other tack in the trailer 30 minutes before departure time to a horse show !
Why in the world can't we load this stuff the night before ?!

I love the files that come out of my 1DII as well, just something about it!!! I keep wondering about upgrading my 40D to a 7D and my Mark II to a Mark III but I keep holding back and buying glass instead. The 24-70 f/2.8L is wonderful on the 1D, to use, hold and the IQ is stunning as well.

I totally agree! I had one a year or so ago but sold it and have regretted it every since. I thought I'd be happy with my Tamron 28-75 but after having, holding, and using the Canon 24-70L, I just don't like the Tamron.

I have fallen in love anew with my 1D2 since I got the focus assembly adjusted. I had just thought it was me, which some of it was, but the images now are outstanding!!! I never realized how sharp these images can be!

For some reason I just did a file count in LR3 of the number shots w/my 50D. <900! Such is the soft life of a back up body. But I know better than to sell it.

If I did I could sell it as "like new".
