I have fallen in love anew with my 1D2 since I got the focus assembly adjusted. I had just thought it was me, which some of it was, but the images now are outstanding!!! I never realized how sharp these images can be!

I hear you, I liked my 1d2, but after the shutter replacement things have been different... I suspect they touched up the focus motor or something, because everything since then has been spot on, and sharper than ever... Or placebo... whatever.

I totally agree! I had one a year or so ago but sold it and have regretted it every since. I thought I'd be happy with my Tamron 28-75 but after having, holding, and using the Canon 24-70L, I just don't like the Tamron.

I considered the Tamron when I got the 24-70L but since the main reason for going into the store that day was to get a waterproof L lens, that's what I got and I'm quite happy that I did. It is a lens I really don't see myself replacing, even if an IS or II version comes out as I bet they'll change it from the design I love (though I should never say never...). This compares to the 135L which I love but will in a heartbeat replace if an IS version comes out.

Lovely shot above, great lighting on her face and perfect exposure with the sunset behind, well done.

My 40D backup has less than 20K shots while my 1DII has over 75K and my IIN over 50K... I tend to put my 100-400L on my II as I often have the EC-S screen on my II N which is a bit dark at f/5.6. Since my 100-400L is my real machinegun shooting lens so it gets more shots generally.

How do you like the 7D compared to it? I need a backup camera haha

The 1D2 AF speed is still slightly superior. The high ISO quality of the 7D is FAR better than the 1D2, and that's the main reason I picked one up as I shoot quite a bit of night games and indoor gymnasium sports. Having the higher MP count is allowing me shoot farther across the field, and crop the pictures with enough resolution to still get large prints with good detail, this was not possible with only 8MP, I had to wait for the action to come to me a lot more with the 1D2. I'm enjoying the new camera for the most part but it does have a couple little issues that bother me, such as the FPS drop in poor lighting . I shot my first College game with it the other day and posted some pics HERE.

I've started, this year, lighting the volleyball and football games. The volleyball games are great, shooting at only ISO 800. I'm using 2 Vivitar 283's...for now. Football is a bit tougher, still having to shoot at ISO 1600. But that is far better than ISO 3200 of last year! I need to get some better flashes for football...if I had a 580EX II, it would be a bit better than the Targus flash I'm using.

Irregardless, it has made the images pop more and still using less ISO!

Thank you! The sunset was about perfect that night!

580's wouldn't give you quite double the power but close, 190 vs. 115 for the 283's. Metz and Sunpak offer some larger. Then you get onto big lights measured in ws instead I guess, not sure if you'd be allowed to hang those... It really is all about light at the end of the day.

Yes, it is all about light. Personally, I would love a couple of 580's for football and OCF. Some AlienBees would be great for the indoor gym sports like volleyball and basketball. Someday....

Shot a fashion show at Neiman Marcus yesterday with my 85L on a friends 1d2 and my 24-70+580II on my 1d2n. IT worked well but the 85L was horrible at tracking models walking :|

85L is notorious for slow AF unfortunately. 1.8 is supposed to be faster.

Yeah I know, it's still a great lens though. The portraits of them I got when they weren't moving was great. I am very happy I had my 24-70 though. Most of my keepers came from that lens.

Zerimar, when you have time I would like to see some of your shots with the 24-70. I ended up going with a Tamron 28-75. It's a great lens but I won't be satisfied until I get the Brick. It's a sick feeling..............
