An unusual use of the 85L.

Was at a friend's house and a fire started pretty close to it. Only had my 1d2n with 85L so made due with that. got some interesting stuff because I was there before the fire trucks :p

A few from this evening. Good fun - but I'm feeling the strain now.

And unfortunately my one eyes has been knackered the past week and it's getting worse so this is my shooting for the month probably done. :( (can't see anything and sensitive to light! :p)

Love these shots. I've looked through the thread for your settings, but can find them - what did you do/use?

To my (inexperienced) eye, it looks like a really fast pan, not trying to keep the car centred, but from in front of the car to behind it, and a slow enough shutter to slightly blur the car too.

Anywhere close?

Steve

Zerimar, how do you like the 85L on the mkiin?

I sold my 70-200 in hopes of picking up a used one since the resell value on them aren't as great...but now I'm thinking about just picking up a new one from Newegg.

I love it. I got mine cheap used ($1000 less than new) and it was totally worth it. IMO it isn't as slow as people say on a 1 series and works amazingly in low light (can check out my music shots at my site to see what I mean)

2nd'd! Many a roll of quarters did I sacrifice to push a single button rapidly while moving a joystick left and right in that game.

Hi All,

Just wanted to confirm my curtain failure before I send it in to canon. I love my MK II and luckily I have a MK I as a backup but it really ticked me off when I had this curtain failure cause the shutter only has 40K on it. Anyhow I don't get the err 99 message and the shutter still works fine but i obviously get a black band in my photo. I have tried putting that segment back in place but it doesn't stay for long. Now I am looking at a $480 shutter. I wish that they could just replace the curtain.

Thanks

Sucks...

How do you know it only has 40K shots? Are you the original owner? If not, you might want to ask Canon for an official shutter count while it is being fixed.

that's what I thought it was :( when I bought it the raw image that I got from the guy said it had 32k when I checked it in cancouny. I know that can be changed but I took his word for it since the body was mint. when I upgraded the firmware I think that it reset the counter. my images now dart 2k

Nice shot! Can I ask what AF Mode you used? Either one shot or Servo? And did you expand the AF activation area to 7 or 13 (page 72 of the 1D manual). Thanks for your help. I have shoot coming soon and need help with this topic.
