A few from this evening. Good fun - but I'm feeling the strain now.

And unfortunately my one eyes has been knackered the past week and it's getting worse so this is my shooting for the month probably done. :( (can't see anything and sensitive to light! :p)

Nice shot! Love the heavy red streaks. Is this in auto or manual focus and what ISO did you use....400 maybe?

that's what I thought it was :( when I bought it the raw image that I got from the guy said it had 32k when I checked it in cancouny. I know that can be changed but I took his word for it since the body was mint. when I upgraded the firmware I think that it reset the counter. my images now dart 2k

I just got my 1D MKII back from Canon after servicing a broken shutter. I checked the most recent count and they did not reset it at all. I used cancount and an EXIF software program and both counters matched up. What sucks is that my shutter was under 50K as well.

Hi All,

Just wanted to confirm my curtain failure before I send it in to canon. I love my MK II and luckily I have a MK I as a backup but it really ticked me off when I had this curtain failure cause the shutter only has 40K on it. Anyhow I don't get the err 99 message and the shutter still works fine but i obviously get a black band in my photo. I have tried putting that segment back in place but it doesn't stay for long. Now I am looking at a $480 shutter. I wish that they could just replace the curtain.

Thanks

Yep, mine looked just like that on New Year's Eve, 2008.

Mine has 80K on it, total, and I just had the shutter replaced for the 2nd time! Sometimes the shutter life is just a suggestion! :D

Mine has taken 535k total, has had shutter replaced 2 times. The last time was at 524k.they tend to be a crapshoot on how long they last.

Yeah that sounds too high, I paid about $250 all told to fix mine back then. It was right around 100k at the time, by the way.

I had mine sent to Canon Irvine Ca. - same problem. Why the difference in price???

I must say I´m getting more and more tempted every day to leave my 1D II for a 1D III... 14-bit images, automatic noise removal, much better ISO and so on. And with all these reports of 1D IIs failing at about 50-100k clicks, and mine is at 75k... Replacing the shutter here in Norway will set me back about 600-800 dollars, and that is NOT an option.

Have you seen how appealing a 5d2 is? I am getting one to pair up with my 1d2n. I'd love a 1d3 though.

IQ-wise, yes. But I simply can`t leave that great autofocus, build quality and weather sealing. Planning on getting a 70-200 F4 IS soon so I can finally shoot some events and not panic if it rains slightly.

A 1D III would just be perfect for me, but budget-wise it`s just kind of out of my range if I`m getting a 70-200 too...

Ah yeah. I'd prefer to have a 1d2 and 70-200 over a 1d3 without one.

well at $480 I am expecting the higher end. I am sending it to nj. I am also going to send in my 70-200 to have it calibrated with the body. the otherthing is that I am not a cps member so that makes a differencein price also(just one lens shy and they took the mk 1 off the list). as far as the 5d I just love the size, big hands, and the build quility of the 1 series, can't stand that dial and no weather proofing.

Nice shot! Can I ask what AF Mode you used? Either one shot or Servo? And did you expand the AF activation area to 7 or 13 (page 72 of the 1D manual). Thanks for your help. I have shoot coming soon and need help with this topic.

AI Servo, and I don't remember off hand, but I'm pretty sure it's set to 7. (Sorry for the late response) if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
