I'm thinking about upgrading my 1D classic to the Mark II, one of the main reasons being the ISO handling on the mark II. How does the 1D mark II ISO handling compare to a different body? I heard around it's about the same as a 40D but wasn't sure. The ISO on the 1D2 and 1Ds2 up to 1600 is great! Personally, I don't use 3200 on them, cos it really impacts the quality of the image, but it could still be used in an emergency .... plus, there's always PS. I don't know about the 40D, but I know the (high) ISO on the 1D's is noticably better than that on my 30D. Go for it, it's an amazing tool! Hasselblad | Olympus | Lumix | www.oliverrauer.com

It has bigger pixels which have a great image quality to them. I'll use 3200 on my 1DII in rare cases while I've turned it off on my 40D, too much banding on my 40D at 3200 ISO in my opinion. I still like the 40D for some things, it is useful to have the 1.6x reach and live view at times and it makes a smaller second body at times but I much prefer the 1DII. flickr

The 1DII will probably be next on my list. Is the battery consumption the same as the 1D classic? I'm getting maybe around 200 shots per battery (dead cell OEM batterys)
