this may help?

Hmm.. I guess they are pretty similar. I don't know if it's my eyes but the noise patterns look different from the 40D to the 1DII

Much different. I'm seeing banding in the 40D shots and a smooth consistent grain in the 1D2 (which is what the 1D2's are known for) that looks much nicer.

I'll have some more high ISO shots coming here soon.

Didn't mean to do a 3200 ISO test last night but it gets dark so fast that I ended up there... I really should have brought my tripod with me, it was in the boot of the MINI but I neglected to bring it, silly me. Anyways, here is 3200 ISO, f/1.8 1/60th with the 50mm f/1.8 Mark I:

Great boots (shoes?), and cute portrait!

I just answered your other thread... best answer is all three, a T1i for video rig, a 40D for rig otherwise or a 1DII as a real backup to the 1DIIN. I had all 3 but sold the T1i since I took about 10 videos with it in a year and watched 2-3 of them once. I still like the 40D when I want a lighter backup (or lighter one camera) but a pair of 1-series bodies is really the cat's meow.

Pair of n's. Nice

The one on the left has a shutter count of 40k and the one on the right has 308k, according to 1dcount.
