@ George: Love it! Really cool Xmas light bokeh going on there.

Bit of a story here: after just buying the 28-135mm a couple weeks ago to have a walk-around, which I may or may not have mentioned here, I win a MacBook Air in the raffle at my company Xmas party! Pretty cool little laptop, but I just don't need it, so I sold it. Took that money and bought the 24-105L, and then re-sold the 28-135. Kind of a whirlwind of a deal, but here's my first good shot with the new L!

Awesome Shot you got this morning. I too am in the O.C. area and thought about ditching work to go out to the beach to take some pictures of the after math of the storms that we received.

Congrats on a fantastic shot!! Very Inspirational for me...

Thanks! This is actually Santa Monica pier, but close enough! I met a fellow Canon shooter right after I took this, he was out on the pier with a 50D and a 70-300mm, shooting the sunrise also. I bet he's on this forum too, somewhere...

I am actually leaving to Utah on Sunday for a week, so I am looking forward to going up to Park City, as well as the Salt Lake area. Just wish my 300mm would get here today so I could take it with me on Sunday when I leave.

Funny, I have lived in So. Cal. for all of my life (37 years) and I have NEVER been to the Santa Monica Pier.... Been from San Diego to San Francisco, but I must have jumped over Santa Monica....none the less, a beautiful picture.

Here is another one. I was shocked at how many tennis balls were all over the place.

Man those waves are dirty! We've had quite some weather, and I hear it's not even done yet- supposed to start up again on Sunday I believe. That shot with the tennis balls & debris reminds me of the tsunami aftermath shots from Sri Lanka.

The photos on this page up to this post really can portray the 2004 boxing day tsunami story...

1st pic - Christmas
2nd pic - calm at a jetty
3rd pic - dirty waves (if there was a guy there for scale, it'd be even scarier)
4th pic - aftermath on the shore

Wow, you're right. I remember my parents being out in Hawaii that Christmas, and calling me worried about the waves hitting there.

both feel a little underexposed, unless you were shooting when it was starting to get dark?

Thanks ! And that is a great shot you got of the pier. You got it all in there ! ....pier, sunset, waves and a bird !
Good stuff this page, for sure.

And Tophotowa....the color one for me has more appeal. Great shot.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Incredibly sharp Husky shot! And at 3200??

Any recommendations on a cheap shutter release?
