I forgot how nice this camera is to be honest. Yeah the high ISO isn't great, but it is fixable still.

Awesome hood!

Has there ever been an insert to use AA or AAA batteries in the 1D Mk II like you have for battery grips?

I've always wondered the same thing but haven't found anything, the batteries are simply a series of 10 NiMH AA battery cells in a case which can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com …edrikbillgren/3269894893/ (external link)

I agree with Ken that some practice shots will be in order, and further, when I shoot indoors for event like that, I typically use an incident light meter to determine exposure, and shoot a black/gray/white target for WB reference. I use a photovision target, but there are others.
If you lack a incident meter, you could use the camera's spot meter ( if it has one ) on a gray card or the tri-color card to get an exposure value.

It was really hard, the gym was dark with "stupid" lights...I was forced to shoot 1600 iso, and the meter was falsed by the kimonos...I was not in the best position but I didn't want to go inside the fight area...that seems too official and I was there only for fun and had to help my team mates. Anyway I need more practice, maybe I've used a little too high shutter speed, It's not a fast paced sport. I've tried to overexpose a little. I have to know better this 1d, I will post some result to have your help. Thanks

Oh nice. Thanks so much, this will come in handy.

Not as cool as directly using AA in an emergency but still.

My imagine composition sucks. I need a heavier lens.

the guy at my local RC hobby shop got into photographing remotely via his nitro chopper, he cam to me to ask about a few lens choices for this, in exchange he has made me up a battery pack, gave him my old floged out NP-E3 and he soldered up a bunch of 4800mAh batterys in there for me, weighs a bit more but the amount of shots i get between charges is amazing, not sure how many mAh the standard batery packs are but this did the trick.

Smart move. The 1DII will team up nicely with your two "L" lenses, especially the 70-200. This does not necessarily, however, disprove your insanity.;)

Yes. 1D2 AF precision and speed are legendary.
This, with the 300 2.8 from the other night.

Can't say I don't like it,especially with the model being easy on the eyes...the blue might be OTT to some, but the pic definitely has pop!

I did exactly that a while ago. I have far fewer missed focus but I do have to watch for underexposure, generally dial in upto +1 ec.
Takes some getting used to the two fingered changes but well worth it.
If you are getting a good deal dont worry about it.
