I got one Saturday from a member and I love the image quality over my 7D so far. Even editing the images seam more satisfying.

I know what you guys are saying. There seems to be an intangible quality to the files out of this camera. It's like Canon really hit the sweet spot in the balance of number of pixel vs sensor size vs process logic, etc. It's just a very forgiving camera to shoot with.

And forgiving can be a very good thing indeed. People who have not shot with these bodies just kind of look at me with this expression of, "yeah....right...." when I say that.

EDIT: ps....very nice photos on that last page ! You all did very well !

regards, george w

YUP YUP Dave
I was one of those people and I got to use a friends last week and edited one of the files. I was using my 7D and compared the raw files. The smoothness of the pixels on the 1D was fantastic and the image was so sharp right out of camera. I also notice I didn't have to stand back as far using the same lens (70-200mm L 2.8 IS) on both cameras. The 1:3 (1D) and 1:6 (7D) really makes a difference on the lens distance to subject (full body shot).

I am wondering if its worth having $1000 tied up in my 24-105 or if the 28-135 can do the job (with longer reach even)

/Kenneth

I think the 28-135 is the most underrated lens... IS and USM... Under $300 bucks used... Lightweight, great images...

A couple of cropped photos:

Was very impressed with this thing's AF, sometimes the birds were smaller than the AF point and it still managed to lock on reasonably well!
