Hello Daniel,

The best would be that you post pictures of what you call "not sharp" so we can help you ID the problem :)

Hi, I'm coming from the 30D and now that I add the 1D MkII to my collection I'm having problem to get sharp images, I'm sure it's only part of my learning curves with this model, can someone guide me about setting or software to have sharp images with a 50mm F1.4

Thank you
Daniel

So many factors go into "sharp images" it would really be best for you to post an image that is in question with exif info intact.

Edited to add: Daniel, you and I were posting at same time! Still would be better to post an image in the thread rather than just a link to your Flickr page.

make sure focus search is off, and set up user def 1 and bump sharpening to one click under max, then use the user def one.

Can you be more specific? If you feel a particular region is not sharp you probably want to post a 1:1 cutout of that section.

My imagine composition sucks. I need a heavier lens.

Ok, I think my problem is the lens I did used for these pictures. On my 30D very sharp[, on my 1D I did have to do a lot of post processing ie: Adding a lot of sharpness to the picture. The lens is the Canon 70-210mm F4 this lens is more than 20 y/o

No, your 1d may need calibration. Try other lenses on it and if the result is the same, chances are the body needs to be calibrated if those lenses are sharp on other bodies.

I need to stay out of the buy/sell forum. It's burning a hole in the wallet...

The 70-210/4 is not sharp in my experience...

Agreed. I had this lens when I first began on my 450D. In proper lighting, stopped down, center sharpness was acceptable. If the lighting was poor, the focus was horrible. The OOF elements were absolutely awful, with amazing amounts of ca. This lens actually functioned better on my 1d mkii, so I wonder if it is something to do with the camera. The AF on the 1d made this lens almost usable.

IMO, test the 1d with other lens's and if it is the lens, sell it and pick up the 70-210 f3.5-4.5 or save up a little more and get the 70-200 f4L

Another question: I've just received my new battery, how many times I have to do the full discharge and charge for optimum power ?

Hi, Is there a way to get a copy of the personal user setting and edit it , then copy it on the 1D MkII without having to get a PC with XP and Firewire. My PC is with windows 7 64Bit.
Thank you

Daniel
