On my 30D very sharp[, on my 1D I did have to do a lot of post processing ie: Adding a lot of sharpness to the picture. The lens is the Canon 70-210mm F4 this lens is more than 20 y/o Canon 1D MkII, Canon 30D, Canon 50 F1.4, 28 F2.8, 17-85 IS, 70-210 F4, 18-55 IS, tamron 200-400 F5.6, + acc.

No, your 1d may need calibration. Try other lenses on it and if the result is the same, chances are the body needs to be calibrated if those lenses are sharp on other bodies. I need to stay out of the buy/sell forum. It's burning a hole in the wallet...

Agreed. I had this lens when I first began on my 450D. In proper lighting, stopped down, center sharpness was acceptable. If the lighting was poor, the focus was horrible. The OOF elements were absolutely awful, with amazing amounts of ca. This lens actually functioned better on my 1d mkii, so I wonder if it is something to do with the camera. The AF on the 1d made this lens almost usable.
