The only problem with third party lenses is that they are not always compatible with your camera (they usually have autofocus issues). I think you can rest assured that Canon lenses will be compatible with Canon bodies.

Then they brought out the 12-24 wide angle zoom and seduced me. I bought one and love it. No problems at all. I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Nice and solid, quiter autofocus than my Canon 50mm. And so far it has taken some pretty sharp pics.

That gave me confidence enough to buy the 24-60 f/2.8 as a companion lens to the 70-300 DO that I carry with my 20D as a lightweight walking-around kit. Both Sigma lenses are very high quality, both in build and image quality. I just got a 70-210. It first had incompatibility issues on a D30 and had to be upgraded (free). Then they "discovered" the autofocus ring was broken. Charged me $50 to repair ... the lens was only $76. I will probably stick with Canon lenses.

In fact there some reviews out there which rate its image quality on par with 17-40mm L. That may or may not be true, but it's definitely close and it could be $250 cheaper than 17-40, depending upon where you buy it from. Raman
