Hi guys, my name is Kaleb and live in the freezing tundra of Minnesota. Anyway's its great to be on a great forum. Been lurking here and there but never dove into the fourms. Will do now, making it a big priority.

I am getting my feet wet in the portrait side of photography and getting great advice from some Grauve photographers in Japan so my style might be along the sides of how they do shooting. Well I did a "quick shoot" of a friend, it was at a quick pace which kind of caught me off gaurd. She is a model so Its great to have a nice resource and she knows how to do poses nicely and I simply capture.

Anyways, here are a couple, CC is always liked.

All shots were taken with Canon Digital Rebel XTi with Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 and 580EXII. I think flash fired in 1, and 2 and no flash on 3.

very very nice. i like the light in #3 also. she's a really beautiful model.

reminds me of my current high school councilor, which also reminds me why i enjoy going getting sent to her office so much.

Great clarity! I also like #3 best but she's takes great delicate photos against the green background.

Very nice photos... I love the lighting in the 3rd photo but I like the background in the 1st.. The 3rd I think the background is just a tad to busy... Nice work over all. :) Thanks for sharing. :)

wow, thanks everyone. :)

To answer your question akprice, I just used the 580ex with a cheapo diffuser. I could have probably used natural all natural lighting, I don't have any reflectors yet, and probably would have to pass up on using them at that location, security was on us in no-time telling us we need a permit and could only shoot in each room for 10 minutes, made me very nervous since it was my first shoot and I wasn't used to the fast pace.

But yeah I just used my 580ex which was just mounted on my camera to fill in the light and simmer down some of the shadows that were on her face.

Love number 3, but all are nice. She is beautiful, and obviously knows how to pose. Where were you that you had security on you (needing a permit??) when you started to take shots... and only were allowed in each room for 10 minutes...

Thanks again everyone.

We were at the Como Park Conservatory in St Paul Minnesota, the security gaurd followed us around and then told us we need to buy a permit for $25 to shoot in the building. Makes no sense since its a public location.
