However, if we go over our symptoms step-by-step with the manual, sometimes the solution pops up on the fourth reading. If you have made sure that you are operating by the book, and if it does something you still don't agree with, then post something here again.

On my D60, the red-eye reduction light can be enabled or disabled by menu. Without a 420EX attached, the red-eye reduction lamp turns on in a dim room. With the 420EX attached and ready, the red-eye reduction lamp still turns on. So, my 420EX did not cause anything to change.
