Someone posted a home-made version of this the other day - it looks interesting, haven't seen anyone actually use one yet.

Certainly looks interesting. Would like to see some reviews myself.

I bought one a few weeks ago and have used it for two shoots. Works pretty good---quick and keeps things out of the way--my only problem is that the neck strap is not soft and squishy on my neck like the optec pads......but it does work well.
I typically carry two camera bodies around my neck--the rapid strap works well for having one handy at all times.

I also bought one and really like it for shooting sports outdoors in the winter. Normal straps really bind on nylon/gortex winter gear. This one doesn't and it is easy to get the camera up and shoot with it.

i saw a pic of one in another forum yesterday and decided to buy one today. looks so much better than dorky logo straps and has to be better than having something something around the neck. have not actually tried it obviously but i think it should work well enough.

I'm tempted to pick up the RS1 version (cheaper and I don't need storage on the strap). I wanted a new strap anyway but $44 is kind of pricey.

I was worried about how strong the tripod mount is on the 30D and grip so I emailed Canon. In case anyone else was wondering, this was their response:

"The tripod mount is very strong, but we don't have any specifications
regarding how strong. There tripod mount on the grip is capable of
supporting the weight of the camera a lens."

I made a DIY version... took a couple of minutes, and it's plenty comfortable for the light lenses I use. The tripod mount is really a b)(^% to find parts for, but they're out there.

Whole setup (with DIY handstrap, too)

I LOVE the idea... I used to just sling the camera sideways across me, but it doesn't work too well if you're wearing too many layers.

I liked the idea of the strap until I saw it attached to the lens. If you change lenses, it looks like a pain. I guess if you're using 2 cameras, it would work well.

I added a A-S clamp to the tripod mount end. I had one extra. That done, it is a snap to change lenses.

It's funny when he tosses it back and forth in his hands. I think I will order one for my second body but don't think it's necessary for the my other body.
