I don't mean to sound snotty, but I would suggest that you read your camera's manual so that you understand how to use the light meter that is built into the camera. That's the starting point.

Make sure you either put the camera on a steady tripod or use shutter speeds that are fast enough to hide any camera shake. Shutter speeds at or faster than 1/100 second should do.

I suggest Manual on the camera for your setting, also check out the following site to see if it helps with HDR;

The settings you use depend on what you are trying to accomplish in your image, i.e. perspective, depth of field, etc. as well as lighting conditions. You'll find some HDR examples there too.

You'd probably be best served checking out the Transportation part of the Photo Sharing section and look at some of the posted shots, check out the exif data for the settings and focal lengths used, and take some composition ideas from them.

Good luck!

Put it on Av and take several shots at different aperture values for each angle. Use f/8 for your midrange and go up and down from there. Pick the ones you like after putting them on your puter.

Try manual in those tough conditions. First set the f-stop & shutter speed you need. Then adjust the ISO. Need an exposure crutch?
