OK, that's just not fair... my 55-250 has never been, and will never be, that sharp. Are you sure you weren't using an L?

Can you post the settings for that shot?

iso 100, f/5.6, 1/320's @163mm

as for sharpening yes i did you software but it wasn't much, here's the image straight from the camera. and yes this painted person scared me as well ha.

Those painted people are just freaky. Sorry. OK, I'll keep it in mind as to the speed. Back in 35 days anything over 1/60 worked fine. And I couldn't get to an F19.

Elk and bison, sometimes I just look out my window.

i'd love to be able to look out my window and see that

When the bison is alking between your motorcycle and a post it is a little hairy.. But, yes, t is pretty awesome.

i must say your lucky to get shots of elk so easily, in michigan i have to travel well north to even think about trying to get shots like that, even with that i'd need lots of luck.

its just wierd at f/19 it should be really sharp.

Not really. Due to diffraction, sharpness peaks around f10 and then goes backwards. F19 would be considerably softer than wide open. I find this lens really shines at f5.6-8.

Also, great elk, but lets see the front next time! ;)

OK, I'll keep that in mind as well. Way open will be way faster too. That front back thing, he was definitely into mooning us a bit.

My tripod came in today! Going out tonight get sume sndown eruptions at O Faithful.

Looking for a duck when I have time to shoot.

I purchased a knock off brand from amazon. Its just your basic round hood, not the petal type. I think I paid around $10
