Somthing a little different,
55-250 @ 55mm, iso 100, f8, 1/400th

Cool although I would have totally zoomed in on the Thai 777-300ER!

I picked up this and the 18-55IS today, my first IS lenses and what a difference hand holding these make. I just have one question being an IS newbie, and that is battery consumption. Do these consume power all the time the camera is on or is the IS only running during focus and fire? Should I turn off the camera when these are attached? Thanks in advance.

mastertech01, IS activates when you half-press your shutter, so you can keep it on safely :)

Here's a couple from Target Field in Minneapolis at the Twins last regular season home game. I got there a couple hours early so I could take in the new stadium :D

And one of some birds on the Mississippi. I noticed after I took the pictures that the bird on the left only has one leg.

I'm really starting to prefer the 55-250mm to the nifty-fifty [In good light at least]
Much easier to get a narrow DOF and I think the bokeh is better as well.
And plenty sharp enough!

Good work, what shutter speed did you use in the second shot?

Edit: Don't worry I just looked at the EXIF data on Flickr
