Such a great range of uses out of this lens, from close up flower taker to landscape...bw!Lens.

Every now and then I manage to be in the right place at the right time with a camera. This was the scene in my back yard this morning.

I was just wondering now that this lens has a few years of use and abuse, are there any nearly universal truths about it from one to the next, i.e. between 6.3 and 8 is sharper than most other apetures, or if stopped down to f16 or tighter refraction gets too distracting. I can't add much to this I've only had the lens for a week now. Before I get a chance to blueprint my copy of this lens, are there any nearly universal truths?

After spending another great day shooting In brill weather with my nifty 250 and my 30D, I have reached the conclusion that the - sweet spot for the long end Is not f8 but f9, as I have noticed quite a difference In genaral better IQ and lower noise, combined with a better look to the pictures probably due to more dof....

F9 at the long end, Is perhaps Its sweet spot for IQ and possibly one stop up from f5.6 at 55mm...
