I thought I got nice shot, but seeing all you guys have taken, ...

Well, here it is, 55mm 1/400 F5.6 ISO100:

IMAGE: http://www.patana.fi/temp/_MG_6146_1.jpg

Another one.

200mm 1/200 F5.6 ISO100. I wish I had changed to higher ISO to get faster exposure, but at least there's room for improvement on my skills. The pic was taken almost exactly the spot where the first A-bomb went off. Couldn't find the crater though

Here are mine. Not sure if I posted this before. I have a nagging feeling that mine is not as sharp is it could be. Am sending it to Canon to check.

Ok, guess it's time for me to jump in. Let me just first say I blame each and everyone of you who posted those wonderful images here because you made me go out and buy one of these lenses!!! Actually I am thanking you. What a value this lens is and I agree with whomever dubbed it the "Nifty Two-Fifty". And it doesn't do too bad a job either. Although I haven't used it much yet, I did feel the need to go out and shoot the moon tonight since it was full.

250mm ~ ISO 100 ~ f/11 ~ 1/160th sec. ~ -3 step exp. compensation

Used tripod and IR remote control shutter release, bracketed exposures.
Adjusted curve, sharpness, cropped to 30% and of course JPG compression applied. I think I probably over-sharpened a bit too much though trying to get the most detail out of it.

Let me know if you think I could have done better (this is my first go at it).

Hi, this is my first post on this forum (I've been lurking here for a while). As a novice in DSLR world, I am really very satisfied with my Nifty-Two-Fifty (but not so much with my photographic skills). Great lens for the price.

So happy to be the proud new owner of this fine lens! (sorry about the grain in the 2nd image... 1600 ISO - yes, not a good performer in low light, but otherwise it's great!).

While we're sharing the moon shots, thought I'd chime in too

May I ask, doesn't your lenses kinda overlap? I mean mostly the 55-250 and 70-200? Or is there place for both of them? I can't imagine if I had either one, that I'd buy the other one too.

I could say same for 18-55 and 17-40 too.

Or do you like the IS so much, and shoot with the L in good light?

Unfortunately I think my 55-250 is going to be for sale sooner or later.

Here's some pigeons in flight. They were pretty far away & moving fast, but pretty impressive IQ nonetheless. Awesome lens. Freezes nicely. Including 100% crop.
