I have been delaying this thread for as long as possible 'till i got some satisfactory duck shots. At first the weight was pretty bad, but after hiking around a number of parks, I found that if I cradle my lens/camera in my left hand, its very doable!

Congrats on the lens, it is my favourite and I use it as much as I can! You will get used to the weight as your arms and shoulder muscles start to strengthen :-)

Great duck shots!

It's a big investment, but very worth while. Congrats!

Great shots! I love how you were able to capture all the details in the shadows.

OK, so since I've stumbled onto the "ducks-forever" page, here's my duck story. Overcast day. Grey geese doing take-offs and landings. (OK, a goose isn't a duck. Stick with me.) A fozen lake. Snow on shore. 95% missed pictures. Apparently, there was not enough contrast in the scene to allow my slow but image-stabilized lens to focus at 200mm and a maximum f/stop of 6.3. Let me repeat: The lens would not auto focus at all. Lesson here: Image stabilization is no substitute for speed. A good, fast, constant f/2.8 rules!
