When I store pictures taken with my G1, I only store the CRW file, not the thm file.

Can someone tell me if I need to store the thm file too? Does the thm file give me additional exif information?

If you want to view the RAW files in the TWAIN driver (or Zoombrowser if you must) you need the THM files. They also contain the EXIF information, so I'd keep them around. They are all but 8Kb files, so it's not like they are a burden.

cheers,

Hi Philip,

I used to download my pictures from the camera or from my external cardreader using zoombrowser.
Apparantly zoombrowser does not store the thm files after performing the download.

Can I find the thm files somewhere in the zoombrowser database or can I recreate them somehow?

regards,

Bob.

Actually You don't need THM files for viewing RAW images. It works just fine without them. But what is true is that those files contains the EXIF information and are actually small JPG pictures like thumbniles with odd extension.

Apparantly it is better that I keep the thm files together with my RAW files. For the 200 pictures I have taken so far (my G1 is 2 weeks old) I do not have any thm files.

Is there a way to recreate them?

I'll copy all files via my cardreader to avoide this in the future.

I think that CRW file contains a kind of JPG file inside it, but I'm not sure if it contains the EXIF information.

But don't bother to worry about those few pictures, You have rest of Your life to take pictures with EXIF data ;-)a
